Method 2: Calculate Horsepower with the Trap Speed Method

The trap speed method estimates horsepower using the weight of the vehicle and its speed in a quarter-mile or 400-meter run.

Use the following formula for horsepower using the trap speed method:
Horsepower = Weight × (Speed ÷ 234)³

Let's assume we have a vehicle weighing 2,800 pounds with a quarter-mile speed of 110 mph.
